What We Do
Our organization is involved with a variety of positive efforts, including:
• Supplying volunteers who provide academic support, mentoring and positive youth development activities for local high school students. Our volunteers work with them to improve their grades and pass the California High School Exit Exam, which is required for graduation.
• Providing training, work experience, stipends, and scholarships for our volunteers, who are mostly local college students.
• Organizing beneficial community events like our Annual Cesar Chavez Day Park Cleanup that cleans up Seccombe Lake Park in San Bernardino.
• Providing disaster preparedness training to our volunteers, who in turn can train others so that our community will be better prepared for emergencies.
Facts about us:
• Our organization started in 1998 as a small, grassroots operation intended to give youth a voice.
• Our volunteers provide about 30,000 hours of service to the San Bernardino area each year.
• Historically about 50 YAP members have worked with us each year; gaining valuable experience and skills in the process.
• We serve about 200 high school students annually.
• We obtained our 501(c)3 status in 2007.
For us to continue to serve the community and enhance its services, we need the community's support. Contributions of all sizes are needed, from major corporate sponsorships to small donations from community members. Please see our Donate page to learn more about donating.
