The Fund Development Coordinator (this is an AmeriCorps VISTA Position) is responsible for all aspects of the annual Development Plan and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure adherence to the organization’s fund development plan.

GOAL OF POSITION: To develop and implement YAPs annual fundraising plan

RESPONSIBILIES

Actively participate in the execution and coordination of YAP’sfundraising programs including the ability to multitask, handling logistics and follow through on multiple events/programs at the same time.

Craft and implement a multilayer strategic plan for development, including quantifiable benchmarks to deepen/diversify the funding base, increase unrestricted funds from all constituencies, and ensure internal resources are appropriately utilized.

Identify new corporate sponsors and maximize fund development opportunities through various business development techniques including cold-calling, following up on warm leads and attending networking events; consistently research ways to create partnerships with local businesses.

Coordinate targeted advertising, sales and marketing initiatives to communicate YAP’s Young Scholars, Young Workers and Young Leaders programs and increase support and sponsorship of these initiatives.

Maintain existing relationships by ensuring effective public relations and communication with existing sponsors and families to keep them abreast of existing and upcoming community engagements.

Engage in direct cultivation of donors of all levels, recognizing and championing the value and potential of stakeholders; meet with sponsors and patient families to educate them about YAP’s fundraising activities and special events, answering any questions that may arise.

Advise and assist in the development of an organization-wide fundraising strategy, plan and budget – including effective strategies for raising funds.

Identify partnering opportunities to leverage existing grants and develop complementary grant proposals.

Manage the grant proposal development and submission process; ensuring that proposals, reports and other documents are well written, strategic, and submitted on schedule.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The YAP VISTA will report to the YAP Chief Executive Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS Required:

  • Ability to attend a required training
  • Ability to work independently and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Professional experience in areas such as community organizing, project management and change management
  • Experience in parent and/or community engagement
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to understand systems and perform record keeping, evaluation and follow-up activities
  • Demonstrated leadership and organization skills
  • Commitment and ability to work as a part of a team
  • Ability to work evenings and some weekends as required
  • Master’s degree(s), particularly in the fields of public policy, business and non-profit management preferred.
